The risk peaks between 18 and 24 years, with 26% of deaths and 23% of injuries. The number of victims steadily decreased with age. However, the risk of death in case of physical injury increases sharply after age 75.
69% of drivers killed are male. And among the women killed in cars, 40% are transient.
85% of those killed in the car are in open country and 49% of deaths are in an accident without a third party (that is to say, no other vehicle or pedestrian).
In 2012, nearly 1 out of 5 motorist driver, involved in a fatal accident, had a blood alcohol level over the legal limit.
